Cradlepoint is a well-respected mobile router manufacturer focused on enterprise and fleet deployments, competing primarily with Peplink's Pepwave router lineup. Cradlepoint used to have options for "average" users, particularly those looking for cellular routers for RVs, vans, and boats, but Cradlepoint shifted its focus to emphasize the higher-end and enterprise segments of the market, making it a less popular option with our nomadic audience.
Still, if you're willing to pay for Cradlepoint's pricey and required NetCloud service, Cradlepoint routers can be great options for mobile use.
Like other router makers, Cradlepoint is updating its cellular modem offerings with newer LTE modems and 5G options for its various router product lines.
Specifically, Cradlepoint's E300 series offered LTE Cat-4 or Cat-18 options for the built-in modem, with the option to add a second Cat 4, 6, 12, or 18 modem via Cradlepoint's MC400 modular modems. Now the E300 comes with a built-in Cat-7, 18, or 5G Modem with the option to add a second Cat-18 or 5G modem via the MC400 module.
It's nice to see Cradlepoint update the modems for their flagship products. Currently, Cradlepoint still offers some products with older LTE Cat-4 and Cat-6 designs, but the newer modems will likely become available for these other product lines in the near future.
