BEConnected routers are made by BEC Technologies, a US-based subsidiarity of a Taiwanese company (Billion Electric).
They offer a variety of networking and connectivity gear focused on industrial and enterprise use, including LTE and 5G routers, some of which may interest our audience of nomads.
Many of their products require a “BECentral” remote management subscription, but it's reasonably priced at about $36/year.
Their firmware includes business-level features like integrated VPN, failover, and load balancing, and they are marketed for business use cases.
They have modem modules that are very similar to the modules from Peplink and Cradlepoint.
Product Lineup
They have a diverse product lineup of indoor and outdoor routers, including routers with built-in cellular modems. Here are a few products that may appeal to our audience of nomads:
- AirConnect 8112 5G Business Router ($900) - X62-based cellular modem, Wi-Fi 6, 5X Ethernet ports, no antenna ports.
- BEC 5G Business Gateway ($898) - Combines an MX-600 Multi-Service Router and MX-100U 5G Cellular Modem.
5G Business Gateway
BEConnected's "5G Business Gateway" combines an MX-600 router with an MX-100U 5G cellular modem module. The modem module design is similar in concept to the Flex modules from Peplink or the MC400 modules from Cradlepoint. The MX-100U can be plugged directly into a dedicated slot on the router to add the 5G functionality. BEC sells this as a combined unit.
BEConnected claims this device is certified by AT&T and T-Mobile and that Verizon certification is pending.

Mobile hotspot devices are small, self-contained units that receive a cellular data signal and transform it into an internet connection. They are a cellular modem and router combined. Most can create their own personal Wi-Fi network.
They are typically designed with a specific cellular carrier in mind and require a suitable cellular data plan of their own to operate. You might see them called Jetpacks (Verizon's term for them) or MiFi (Inseego's name for them).
Here's a quick video going over the features of a hotspot, and what makes one better than another:
