(Sierra Wireless changed to Semtech January 2023)
Semtech offers a wide range of antennas designed for mobile and fixed applications in public safety, utilities, industrial, and other uses.
The line offers several different form-factors which can combine MIMO cellular, GPS, and Wi-Fi antennas into a single low-profile design. The Airlink line also includes directional and paddle antennas.
Although the line is specifically designed to be matched to Semtech routers, they can be used with other routers as well.
The antennas are named after their form-factor and come in a variety of combinations from 2-in-1 up to 8-in-1. Unfortunately, the line only offers one 4x4 MIMO cellular option, most of the antennas have 2x2 MIMO.
Here is a sampling of available antennas that may be of interest to mobile users:
- 8-in-1 Dome: 4x4 MIMO sub-6GHz Cellular, including Band 71, GPS, 2x2 MIMO Wi-Fi
- 6-in-1 Dome: 2x2 MIMO sub-6GHz Cellular, including Band 71, GPS, 2x2 MIMO Wi-Fi
- 5-in-1 Dome: 2x2 MIMO sub-6GHz Cellular, including Band 71, GPS, 2x2 MIMO Wi-Fi
- Paddle 5G: sub-6GHz Cellular, including Band 71
- 2-in-1 Dome: 2x2 MIMO sub-6GHz Cellular (band 71 not supported)(not on Sierra Wireless website as of Sept 2022)
- 3-in-1 SharkFin: 2x2 MIMO cellular, GPS

Cellular antennas can be a vital part of your signal enhancing strategy to get a better signal, and thus better cellular data performance. They come in many shapes, sizes and varieties.
They can be used directly connected to your mobile hotspots or cellular embedded routers, or they might connect to your cellular booster. They come in omni-directional vs directional, single vs MIMO, and might support different frequency bands. They come in combination antennas with Wi-Fi and GPS.
But most importantly, is your installation options on your RV or boat.
So before choosing an antenna, be sure to understand all of these variables - and keep in mind that there likely isn't a single 'one size fits all' solution here. You may need to make compromises, or even have speciality antennas for challenging signal areas.
