Teltonika is a Lithuanian company that manufactures a wide variety of mobile-connectivity equipment, focusing on internet-of-things (IoT), networking, connected vehicles, and asset tracking gear. They've been a major supplier in many areas around the globe. Teltonika products became available and certified in the North American market in 2019, but most products are not available for the American market.
The most interesting products for our audience are Teltonika's line of mobile routers, particularly those will cellular-embedded modems.
Product Variations
Teltonika's original product line, beginning in 2019, is the RUT series of routers, with many variations and models. These models we consider to be outdated but still widely available and sometimes used in other gear:
- RUT 200 Series: Cat-4 single SIM router with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and 2x Ethernet ports
- RUT 900 Series: Cat-4 dual SIM version with 2.4GHz Wi-Fi and 4x Ethernet ports
Starting in 2020, Teltonika came out with a new line of routers called the RUTX line, again with many variations and models. These newer routers feature more advanced processors and memory for better performance and throughput, Gigabit Ethernet instead of FAST Ethernet, and dual-band Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi 5 standard). Additionally, these newer routers come with better modem options up to Cat-12.
- RUTX11: Cat-6 dual-SIM router with dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and 4x Gigabit Ethernet ports
- RUTX12: Dual Cat-6 Modems (1x SIM slot each) with dual-band Wi-Fi 5 and 5x Gigabit Ethernet ports
In early 24, Teltonika came out with the RUTM50, a 5G router with a Wi-Fi 5 Wave 2.
There is also a RUTX50 model with a 5G modem and a RUTX14 model with a Cat-12 modem, but these use cellular modules for other markets and don't support key North American cellular bands. Although they can be found for sale in the US, we recommend against buying them until they offer North American modem options.
Additionally, QuWireless makes a variety of outdoor enclosures that are specifically designed for Teltonika routers. Depending on the options, these include a weatherproof enclosure plus cellular and/or Wi-Fi Omni or directional antennas. Although primarily designed for fixed exterior locations, QuWireless enclosures could be used in a mobile application.
Teltonika routers are also used in some GLOMEX products.

Routers can serve as a central conductor of your local area network in your RV and boat. Mobile routers are different from residential routers in that they typically support multiple internet sources like cellular and Wi-Fi, can be powered off of 12v or AC and support external antenna for better receiving signal.
But you might not need a router in your setup. Here's a quick video overview the variety that routers come in:
