Back in 2014, my partner Chris and I founded the Mobile Internet Resource Center.
But many of you have been following us online for even longer - we have been sharing our personal travels and tech projects as Technomadia since we first hit the road way back in 2006.
Last year, Chris and I were asked to be co-hosts of a new educational TV show about the RV lifestyle originally targeted for broadcast on PBS.
We're thrilled to announce that this weekend The RVers premieres - on Discovery Channel!
We'll be joining Peter & John of The RV Geeks and Tom & Cait of Mortons on the Move as hosts.
The show is NOT a reality show, and it isn't focused on any of us.
It's all about the lifestyle of RVing - we're just facilitators helping share information. In the series, expect to see content about learning to drive an RV, boondocking, batteries, shopping for RVs, community on the road, and of course - mobile internet.
This Sunday morning at 8am Eastern, you can tune in to the first episode on Discovery.
And next weekend, on the 24th, will be the episode where we present on mobile internet options.
Of course, most anyone who has been following our content here will already be far more knowledgable about mobile internet than we can overview in a short television segment.
But if you're just joining us having seen the show... welcome! You'll find a ton of content here to continue your mobile internet journey.
The show will also debut on Apple TV, Amazon Instant Video, and Google Play starting Monday the 18th (the first episode will even be available as a free download using this link: https://geni.us/TheRVers).
And it'll be showing in Canada on Wild starting on the November 22nd.
And coming in early 2020, the show will also start to be picked up by local PBS stations around the nation too.
But as an RVer using mobile internet - just how do you watch the show?
A lot of RVers have long ago given up on traditional cable TV and on watching cable networks like Discovery. So then – how can people who ARE actually RVers watch a show about their lifestyle that is being broadcast on a cable network?
Never fear – watching may be easier than you think!
We have some resources ready to go just for you:
-
We published an extensive guide to watching The RVers over cable, satellite and streaming services - including information on how to activate a free trial of a affordable service called Philo that will have you streaming with just a few clicks: Watching ‘The RVers’ TV Show as an RVer: No Cable? No Satellite? – No Problem!
- We also have a monster guide with a ton more tips for general entertainment on the road: Video Streaming Over Cellular & Wi-Fi: TV, Movies & Entertainment on the Go
- And our team member Jen Nealy has just had an article on the topic published on the Xscaper's Blog: Streaming In An RV
See you on Sunday morning!
And as a side note, our involvement with the show will not have any impact on the work we do here at the Mobile Internet Resource Center. Our commitments to the show are just filming a few segments a year.
Running this resource center remains our primary passion and full-time focus, and if anything, the additional exposure from being on the show could bring in even more member funding so that we can keep at it.
