Peplink quietly rolled out an updated Cat-7 LTE modem option to its recently updated BR1 Mini entry-level router that previously came with Cat-4 and Cat-6 modem options. The new modem is available on the third-generation (HW3) Pepwave BR1 Mini hardware which first came on the market in May 2022.
The Cat-7 modem is a significant upgrade over the Cat-4 and Cat-6 models in terms of cellular performance and band support. It checks all the boxes for an entry-level LTE cellular modem - support for carrier aggregation on both uploads and downloads and support for all the primary North American cellular bands.
The new Cat-7 BR1 Mini supports the following LTE bands:
- 2, 4, 5, 7, 12, 13, 14, 25, 26, 41, 42, 43, 48, 66, 71

The Cat-7 version retails for $479 - only $30 more than the Cat-6 version - providing significant value for a small increase in price.
