Key points:
- The Starlink Gen 3 hardware is on sale for $299 at Starlink and most retailers until Oct 5th.
- The $299 sale price is valid for roam users without location dependencies that previous discounts had in place.
- An additional $100 Regional Savings is also available for Standard residential users with location restrictions.
- The Mini dish is showing coming soon on some retailer websites.
Starlink is getting more aggressive with its hardwire price and has now put the Gen 3 Standard hardware on sale for $299 until Oct 5th for all users with no location restrictions or plan restrictions that were in place for the previous regional savings discounts.

Starlink Hardware On Sale for $299
This $299 price is a $200 discount off the normal $499 price for the Standard Gen 3 hardware for any users and is being offered at Starlink.com under all three use cases (Residential, Roam, Boats) when choosing the Standard hardware option and then the applicable plans for that hardware.
While the $299 price point was available to residential users prior to this, this is a new discount that wasn't previously available to roam users due to various location and plan restrictions that were in place with previous discounts.
Most 3rd party retailers are also showing the same $299 discounted price when ordering the hardware directly from their website. We noticed the sale price at Best Buy, Home Depot, Walmart, & West Marine and likely to be available at other retailers.
Regional Savings of $100 Still Available
For residential users in a fixed location using Starlink Standard service, Starlink is also still offering an additional regional savings of $100 in select states bringing the cost down even further to $199.
For users that take advantage of the regional savings, there are restrictions in place that keep you from changing your service plan or changing locations to a non discounted state for the first 6 months or you'll have to payback the $100 savings.
Overall the $299 price point is great news for nomadic users that were left out with the previous discounted price that was only available to fixed location users. Now anyone can take advantage of this sale and enjoy a much cheaper price for the Standard Gen 3 hardware.
Mini Dish Coming to Retailers Soon
While the Mini dish price continues to be $599 from Starlink.com under the Roam use case and available with nomad friendly plans (see our story), we also noticed the Mini dish has finally made an appearance on some retailers websites although it still says "coming soon." It could be up to a couple weeks before retailers have stock to sell, but it's good to see other avenues for users to go and pick up the Mini dish hardware.
The $599 price for the Mini dish is likely going to remain the standard price when made available by retailers and it is unlikely we'll see discounted prices on the Mini hardware until demand in the US slows for the new smaller hardware.

Conclusion
With the Mini dish now costing ~2x the cost of the Gen 3 Standard hardware, that's going to be hard for some people to rationalize the new hardware just for the smaller size, ultra portability, and DC power when the Gen 3 Standard hardware is now getting so cheap for anyone to purchase.
The Mini dish certainly has an appeal for some users who want that small size, ultra portability, and DC power use, but for a lot of users the Gen 3 Standard hardware will still remain a great choice without sacrificing overall performance and other Wi-Fi range limitations that users can experience with the Mini dish in some situations.
The price point of the Gen 3 Standard hardware has even dropped to less than some flagship hotspot devices available from cellular carriers making it a very attractive option if the upfront cost has been holding you back.
