Key Points:
- The Starlink Flat HP dish no longer bundles the Starlink Gen 2 Router as included equipment.
- The Gen 3 router is now available as a $250 option when purchasing the Starlink Flat HP kit - making this overall a stealth price increase.
- The included cable between the power supply and dish is now 82' long vs the 26' that used to be included.
In the past, if you ordered any Starlink hardware directly from SpaceX, everything you needed to get up and running was included with the purchase.
But that is no longer the case when you click on specifications for the Flat HP Dish on the Starlink website and review what is included.
Effective immediately, Starlink is no longer bundling the Gen 2 W-Fi router that used to be included at no additional cost.
Starlink has decided to make a router an optional purchase for the Flat HP hardware, and now offers you the option to purchase the Starlink Gen 3 router for an additional $250 at checkout when ordering the Flat HP Dish.
For those who were expecting a complete kit for $2,500, this is a stealthy price increase. But since Starlink customers often bypass the limited bundled router anyway, this may not actually be much of an issue for many.
Another change in the specifications of note - the 26' cable between the Starlink power supply and dish has been changed out for an 82' cable, so that does give you some extra length to work with.
Depending on your installation needs - the extra included cable could be a good thing, or in tight installs like on a van roof - it could just be unnecessary and in the way.

Starlink Flat HP Dish
The Starlink Flat HP dish has been the flagship product offered by Starlink for some time, and it currently sells for $2500 - which is quite a bit more than the Starlink Standard hardware at $599.
For this premium price, the Flat HP dish offers enhanced specifications and a wider 140 degree field of view of the sky, making it better able to track and communicate with Starlink satellites. It also features more rugged components suitable for use in extreme weather and temperatures.
The Flat HP dish is designed to be mounted permanently on a boat or RV, and it mounts at a slight angle with the included wedge mount for precipitation runoff.
Currently, the Flat HP is the only Starlink hardware officially approved for use while in motion - although other Starlink hardware continues to work in while motion with the correct plan supporting Mobile Priority Data.
The Flat HP dish is generally considered the best hardware to use for Mobile Priority and Priority plans, but it can be used on any plan you choose.
Included Components
The Flat HP dish components that are included can be seen on the Starlink specifications page and in our Starlink Gear Center under the Flat High Performance Dish tab.
The components you are purchasing with your $2,500 Flat HP dish purchase are as follows:
- Starlink Flat HP Dish
- Wedge Mount Kit
- Power Supply
- Power Supply Mount
- Starlink Cable (25m/82')
- Ethernet Cable (5m/16.5')
- AC Cable Power Supply (1.8m/6')
Optional Gen 3 Router
If you decide to purchase the optional Gen 3 router for $250 it will include the following
- Gen 3 - Wi-Fi 6 router with 1 LAN port and 2 WAN ports.
- Power Supply (1.5m/4.92') power cable
If you do not add on Starlink's router - you will need to provide your own to use your Starlink Flat HP system.
Fortunately - this is not a big deal.
We suspect that most customers purchasing the Starlink HP system already have a router they want to integrate it with, likely with more capabilities than the basic consumer-focused router that Starlink offers.
The Starlink HP power supply provides an Ethernet output port that makes integrating in with any router of your choice easy.

Concluding Thoughts
SpaceX no longer includes "everything you need to get online" with every Starlink kit sold, and this may surprise or disappoint some customers who purchase the Starlink Flat HP kit.
But we suspect very few will mourn the loss of the bundled router with this high end Starlink hardware, which was usually paired with a much higher end third party router anyway.
It would however have been nice if SpaceX had lowered the price of the Flat HP kit, rather than just removing the router from the box while keeping the selling price the same.
