Straight Talk Wireless is a prepaid subsidiary owned by Verizon, and they recently made some changes to their plan lineup. Of note are the changes to their Platinum Unlimited Smartphone Plan.
The Platinum Unlimited plan now comes with unlimited data on device, unlimited data available for mobile hotspot use, and access to Verizon's 5G UWB network. The mobile hotspot data is capped at 5 Mbps, similar to what Visible does on their Visible+ plan.
As with most prepaid plans, the data is subject to network management at any time. Streaming is capped at 480p.
The plan is $65/month and can be purchased online directly from Straight Talk, or in Walmart stores.
The Straight Talk Platinum Unlimited plan is somewhat similar to the Visible+ plan - but it costs $20 more per month. Both plans have unlimited data on device, unlimited mobile hotspot data capped at 5 Mbps, and access to Verizon's 5G UWB. But the Straight Talk Platinum plan caps streaming at 480p - whereas Visible+ offers streaming up to 720p.
So if you're looking for a prepaid plan that runs on the Verizon network, the Visible+ plan may be a better option. But the Straight Talk Platinum Unlimited plan may still be a good option for those who want to be able to purchase refill cards in retail stores.
