Verizon Adds New Business Smartphone Plan – My Biz Plan

Verizon Business has introduced a new option for business smartphone plans called My Biz Plan.

My Biz Plan Overview

Somewhat similar to the myPlan lineup of consumer plans introduced in 2023, the new My Biz plan is a basic, base plan that you can customize by adding a la carte features.

The base plan includes unlimited on-device data, but it is underwhelming. The data is always deprioritized, and it does not include access to Verizon's fast 5G UW network. It also has only 5GB of mobile hotspot data and 480p streaming. The base price is $65/month for a single line.

However, the plan can be significantly improved with add-on options. In particular, two options add features that make the plan much more desirable.

• 50GB Mobile Hotspot - $5/month. Adds 50GB of mobile hotspot data.
• Premium Network Experience: $10/month. Adds 5G UW, unlimited premium data, 100GB hotspot data, and up to 4K UHD streaming.

You can add one of these two add-ons, or you can add both of them. So the three options, including these add-ons, are:

• My Biz with 50GB Mobile Hotspot: $70/month (55GB hotspot data per month)
• My Biz with Premium Network Experience: $75/month (105GB hotspot data per month)
• My Biz with Premium Network Experience AND 50GB Mobile Hotspot: $80/month (155GB hotspot data per month)

The other available add-ons are:

• International Connectivity - $10/month. 5GB of data per month in 210+ countries.
• Business Mobile Secure Plus - $5/month. IBM MaaS360 Essentials + Mobile Threat Defense Advanced.
• International Long Distance Calling - $5-15/month. Calling to Asia Pacific, Europe, and/or Latin America.
• Google Workspace Business Standard - $16/month. Gmail, Drive, Calendar, Gemini, and more.
• Unlimited Individual Cloud Storage - $10/month. 

Pricing Information

With the introduction of these plans, Verizon is currently offering an introductory discount rate. The pricing we listed above is the standard/pre-discount pricing, but if you are a new customer and sign up before June 10, you can get a discount of 15% off the monthly cost.

The discount pricing will remain in effect for three years as long as you stay on the plan.

Comparison to Previous Verizon Business Plans

Prior to the introduction of the My Biz Plan, Verizon offered two other business phones that we tracked: Business Unlimited Pro 5G and Business Unlimited Plus 5G. These plans are no longer listed on Verizon's website, but a Verizon Business Sales representative told us that they are still available by calling or messaging Verizon Business Sales.

The new plan offerings come with less hotspot data, which is disappointing. If you add both the Premium Network Experience Add-On and the 50GB Hotspot add-on, you will get a total of 155 GB of hotspot data. But that would bring the plan price to $80/month—the same as the Pro 5G account that currently has 200GB of hotspot data. 

Also, the base plan with the 50GB Hotspot add-on only adds hotspot data. With only that add-on, the plan is still deprioritized at all times and only includes access to Verizon's 5G Nationwide network, not to Verizon's faster 5G UW network.

Conclusion

Overall, the new My Biz Plan seems to be a step backward. While you can get unlimited premium data on your device, the hotspot data is considerably less than the previous Pro 5G plan for a similar amount of money.

Also, the Pro5G plan got you a discount on tablet plans, but that discount does not seem to apply to My Biz. And both the Pro 5G and Plus 5G plan came with some free international Travel Pass days, but that does not appear to be included with My Biz either.

If you're currently on the Pro 5G or Plu 5G plan, we see no reason why you should switch to My Biz. If you're considering signing up for a business plan from Verizon, we recommend that you call and try to get the older plans rather than My Biz.

While the old plans are still available at press time, it's hard to know if they will continue to be available in the long term.
