Verizon is offering some select customers on legacy smartphone plans an additional 999GB of data a month for as little as $5.
This option is not actively promoted on Verizon's website and customers are being contacted by Verizon directly. Verizon does have a "Bonus Data" FAQ that covers this and other special offers and notes that these offers can be given for the following plans:
- Shared Data Plan – 5GB
- Shared Data Plan – 10GB
- The new Verizon Plan shared data plan (e.g., S, M, L)
- The Verizon Plan
- The MORE Everything Plan
Droid Life reported in their article that they've seen the bonus data offered for $5 or $10 a month extra on top of the regular cost of the plan, and they speculate that some customers may even get the bonus data for free.
Currently, it appears this is an offer from Verizon to specific customers and is not generally available to everyone on these plans.
