Visible, Verizon's prepaid brand, is now admitting there is a problem with their network that is capping the download speeds of some customers to 200 Mbps.
The problem has been observed and documented by customers and cellular enthusiasts for a while, but it hasn't affected everyone, and there was no known cause or obvious reason why some were affected and others were not. Visible customer service reps denied there was any intentional throttling.
Visible has now come out and confirmed there is an underlying network issue they were unaware of, that it will be fixed, and that the 200 Mbps speed cap some are experiencing is not intentional.
The problem, according to the Visible blog post addressing it, was an inadvertent holdover from the now-retired Party Pay Visible plans that did have a 200Mbps speed cap. Visible figured out why the cap was still affecting some customers on current plans and stated that the 200 Mbps cap would be removed for affected customers by March 1st, 2024.
