WifiRanger, the stalwart mobile internet equipment company based in Idaho, announced that it is now offering AT&T data plans for its pre-installed rooftop antenna systems on RV's. (WifiRanger Facebook Announcement)
There are two plans available that WifiRanger calls "Weekend Adventures" plans:
- 5GB - $25/mo
- 22GB - $90/mo
The name, data limits, pricing, and prepaid, no-commitment structure show that these plans are aimed primarily at part-time RVers and weekenders who only need data access for the occasional trip or for a couple of months a year.
The AT&T page for the plan is live with the plan details. The plans are non-transferrable and require a compatible WiFiRanger rooftop LTE connectivity system.
The plan fine print states there is no rollover data and data access is completely cut-off once the data allotment is used up for the month. However, AT&T's system will provide the option to purchase additional buckets of data.
Even so, with a hard limit of 5GB or 22GB a month, this is not at all a good deal compared to alternative options.
The plans are on AT&T's prepaid network. Strangely, the 5GB plan is US-only, while the 22GB plan includes use in Canada. No other international use is supported.
WifiRanger also continues to offer a T-Mobile based unlimited data plan through Millencom for $70/month.
